General Information
What is Urban Cord Crafts and what makes it different?
Urban Cord Crafts is a UK-based brand producing handmade paracord gear built to a military standard, not a fashion trend. The brand was created to address a gap in the market where many paracord products are marketed as rugged and durable but fail under real use.
Every product is designed with function first, built using proven materials, and inspected at multiple stages. The focus is on durability, reliability, and comfort — not gimmicks, excessive decoration, or mass production.
Are Urban Cord Crafts products really handmade?
Yes. Every Urban Cord Crafts product is fully handmade from start to finish by a team of two - 1 Veteran and 1 Civilian. No part of the process is automated or outsourced.
From inspecting incoming materials, to weaving, securing, finishing, testing, packaging, and final inspection, every step is done by hand. This ensures consistency, accountability, and quality that mass-produced items cannot provide.
Where are you based and where do you ship from?
All Urban Cord Crafts products are handmade and shipped from the United Kingdom. This allows full control over production quality and dispatch standards.

Materials & Build Quality
What materials do you use and why?
Urban Cord Crafts products are built using:
-
550 Type III paracord (primary structural material)
-
1.18mm microcord (used selectively for structure or detailing)
-
Durable, load-rated metal and plastic hardware
Materials are chosen for strength, durability, flexibility, and proven performance, not appearance alone. All materials are inspected on arrival and tested before being approved for use.
What does “military-grade” mean in your products?
Military-grade refers to the standard of materials, construction, inspection, and testing, not a marketing label.
550 Type III paracord is the same standard paracord used in military environments. Combined with disciplined build methods, repeated inspections, and real-world testing, this results in gear that performs as expected under regular use.
How strong is 550 Type III paracord?
550 Type III paracord contains seven inner strands, each made from twisted three-ply nylon/polyester, enclosed within a tightly braided outer sheath. Under ideal conditions, it has an approximate breaking strength of 550 lbs.
However, finished products are not rated for load-bearing or life-support use, and strength ratings should never be interpreted as safety certification.
Why do you use microcord if it’s decorative?
Microcord is used selectively, primarily for structure, detailing, or finishing where appropriate. It is never used as a replacement for load-bearing paracord and does not compromise the strength or integrity of the product.
How do you choose your hardware?
All hardware is selected based on load rating and durability, then physically tested before a supplier is accepted. If hardware does not meet expectations during testing or use, it is rejected and not used in production.
